Help Needed

Postby mark spalding » 02 May 2014 17:27

Hello everyone,

I am a new kid on the block and as I am knocking on in years. After an illness and spent two months off work my doctor said I needed a hobby away from work and since my younger brother has always been into his classic cars. SO! As an old leyland apprentice car bodger, I thought I would look for a car to play with.

After a chat with my brother, I said, " I had not seen a TR7 for years!" On the same day he found one, so in my excitment (and my dear wifes) we got it, so far so good. I have bought many new parts through Rimmers and Robsport including a new soft top roof. As like all us men we do daft things! I got rid of all my tools, My problem now is I am having problems finding someone with the relavant tools to replace my nice new soft top roof, I am pretty sure i have all the bits and bobs needed, and I have called three companies near to where I live in Ipswich, One told me they can not do it and the other two, after countless phone calls, do not come back!

We were hoping, as it is our 30th wedding anniversary weekend of 17 May, to get the car water tight so we could get new carpets and seats in to go away with our new toy for an old fa*ts long weekend. What i am asking is there any one who has the tools and odd spare bits, who would like to earn some cash to help out? Please feel free to email at mark.spalding@ntlworld.com. text me on 07914768342 or call on Ipswich 01473 436086 and leave a message.

Thank you from a moaning old fa*t.

I am far too far away but it does not take much in the way of tools to fit a roof, more a little time and care. I think there is a write-up on jclays site. There are just some nuts (about 10mm IIRC) holding the rear base bar in, a pop rivet gun for fixing the seal strips to the header rail and a press stud fixer for the sides, plus contact adhesive. If the replacement is vinyl it is best done on a warm day or in a garage with a heater running.
