After a fair fight to get the gen set up & running, [shipped dry & required a fair bit of mucking to get reliable fuel delivery], I have given it a few hours on light load to settle in.
Starting the 4KVA motor on the balancer is up there near it's capacity, so thought it worth the effort.
Shock horror, the balancer doesn't go. Well it didn't, I wonder if this is why I got it pretty cheap? The car wheel drive wheel would jump a little, when switched on, but not spin up.
After some disassembly, we found one phase wire was unplugged. With that plugged in, the thing spun up as expected.
I don't think any lower powered generator would have handled the start up load, & I'm not sure it could spin up a large truck wheel, but then I don't have one of those anyway. Still have to give it a good check out before using, but it is getting close now.
With the gen set I am looking at now using the converted greenhouse as the workshop. It was too expensive to run power down to it, for the little I do today, but the gen set changes all that. Time will tell.
