Has anyone tried this?

Postby Ianftr8 » 13 May 2013 14:52

Over the last few months I've been experiencing squealing noises from the fan / altenator belt on my 8.

I don't want to overtighten the belt because I don't like the feel of the new waterpump I fitted when I rebuilt the engine a couple of years ago.

So to give me a little bit of fine tuning I have pinched one of the headlamp raise / lower adjusters off a spare headlight pod (RTC1992) with it's brass bush

Has anyone else tried this or can see a reason why it wouldn't work or collapse because it's not strong enough?

Cheers
Ian

Thanks for that Henk- I have already tried a similar belt dressing

Interesting web site - has given me some inspiration for something else I've had laying around in the garage for a while.

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Got one of Clint's from Wedge Shops turn buckle adjusters works a treat, so I guess a shorter version should work. Once the alternator is tight its not like that it will doing a lot.

Thanks John,

Seems to fit Ok - but would like to look at Clint's offering - are you going to Gaydon on Sunday?
