Great expense has been incurred providing bike lanes and paths here, only to have the idiots not use them where provided and insist on riding on the road instead. [:(!]

I agree that the riders be licensed, their bikes registered, inspected and third party (injury) insured.
And Lycra should be banned as it's a major cause of visual polution!

To see some Lycra clad, fat arsed and middle aged loser wobbling all over the road, whilst indulging in what can only be some exhibitionist homoerotic fantasy is truely obscene! [:0]

Hi,

I cycle to work, about 3 - 4 miles, the money I save allows me to run my V8 ! Been knocked off several time's over the years, and its always "I didnt see you" [:(!], so cant blame anyone for wearing bright colours.

You can wear bright colours with out the need for them to be skin tight, and the apparent stuffing of 2 pair of socks down the front to give the impression of a "package" won't make anyone believe that the rider is well "endowed" either!

Well it's certainly not just bicycles.

I went to town today. 25Km down a quite nice country main road. Our speed limit is 100Km/H, & pretty heavily enforced, but usually an enthusiastically driven car can easily pass the slower stuff on the straights.

Coming home I was in a conga line of a Granny, who did not like going too fast, followed by a farm truck, built I believe before I was born, a very new Range Rover towing a tatty old horse float, a tatty old Land cruiser towing a very large new up market caravan, a couple of cars, & a large empty gravel truck, towing a dog trailer.

As it was just after 3.00PM oncoming traffic was quite moderate, so no overtaking was being done.

I did the first 22Km between 48 & 68Km/H, & it was only when within 1Km of my turn off that I actually hit 80.

I'm not quite sure, but I expect Cobber's lycra clad aging bums would have managed this pace on their bikes, so all is forgiven Beans. Come on over, & bring your bike, I doubt you'll cause much interference on the roads around here.

Reminds me of a visit to a nephew in Montreal (Canada) some 10 years ago.
He thought it a good idea to explore the city on the bicycle with me. But I lost him within a mile after crossing the St Lawrence river from Ile des Soeurs where he lives.
Being Dutch we ignore the rules and use every opening in traffic there is to move on, it becomes second nature [}:)]
I like to see traffic as one big moving chicane [:D]
