It really annoys me when stuff blatantly off a different car is pedaled as TR7 parts. Ignorance or a seller who just doesn't care?

I've seen sidelight/indicator assemblies from a Mini Clubman described as TR7 items. The dope should have known that Mini restorers cough up loads for these. I even PM'd the guy but the posting stayed up on ebay as parts for a 7.

You know, someone will buy anything. The saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure" is true. There's an auction on at the moment on the US eBay (if it's still there) where the seller parted the car out completely, and is trying to sell the pile of rusty bolts that were left over from stripping the car.

Why would take out a worn out clutch and put another worn out clutch back in [:0] and pay Â£25 for the part !!!

I have seen secondhand brake shoes and pads, not only stupid thing to buy but also poss dangerous [xx(]

Its right about the Mini clubman front lights being expensive, I need one for my 1275 GT and the last new pair went for over Â£100.

They can be a bargin if the price is right, I bought a second hand rack for my elan for 10 pounds with the intention of rebuilding it, it turned out it was of a channel island car and had no measurable wear.

IIRC there was a used bootlid listed recently for around Â£400.

And this morning a NOS Unipart dizzy cap has appeared for the very reasonable Buy It Now of Â£62.03 (+ postage!)

i emailed salthouse breakers ages ago for some parts and had a few emails off them but never got the part, it is worth looking for parts on ebay but you do have to be careful you dont get caught, won a set of doors and on collecting found them worse than mine and vendour said oh didnt i say they were rusty.......... as it was only won them for 99p so was not too put out....

and just to end, my convertible is available for the first Â£5000 offer......[:p][:p][:p],.............

this is true, i usually try to bid local or tie it into a trip car show or hol so will be heading there anyway, does not always work out but does sometimes........[:D]

Obviously some of this stuff is just junk, but some of it comes into the category of "might be useful" or "just in case" stuff and will go onto the shelf in the garage - but only if it comes at the right price. For example, I have a couple of spare Sprint heads that were cheap and for sale locally so no postage involved. I plan to make them into one good spare or to rob bits off if nothing else.

However, someone who goes to the trouble of buying and fitting a used clutch must be in need of something to do.

I did buy a set of control arms for $40 from Launie, a former forum contributor who went to the dark side (a FI 124 Fiat) thinking mine where worn on being pointed out by mechanic who pressed in ball joints (turned out it's an optical illusion). I ended up getting two McPherson struts and a set of alloy wheels for nothing when he abandoned his project. I used the RH strut when I wore the threads on it on my California trip so it's all good. If you got the room, you can find parts cars for next to nothing. Everybody should have a friend with an empty barn to store these.[:p]

Without EBay,clubs,forums,breakers and just hearing through people I know
I would have never have been able to afford get my old Rover back from the grave
And MOT'd.
Sometimes badly advertised items can be a bonus.fewer people notice the item
Less interest can mean a bargain to be had.
As long as someone spots it of course.
Always a gamble though !
