My first drive of my TR7

Hi everyone,
I just picked up my 1980 TR7 from the shop today. It's the first time I got to drive the first car that I had ever wanted to own. When I was 15 in 1975, I wanted a TR7 so bad for my 16th birthday. It didn't happen until I was almost 52. But today was the day. I had a fantastic time! It does not feel like a small car inside and I felt safe in it. I even had the (working) air on. It needs to have the wheels balanced they had a rumble around 40 to 55. But the worst part was it rained on it. The original owner never had it in the rain in 32 years and I did the first time out. I take it to have the paint buffed out and touched up on Monday then it should be done.
Anyone know how to put pictures on here from a iPhone/iPad?

had a rumble around 40 to 55.

thats good!!!!! triumph were very clever and design a in built check on your speedo.......all pre computers..... if it dont wobble at 55 your speedo is out.!!

Here in the machine shed, we use a clay bar to achieve a near frictionless surface on car paint. No kidding, when you lean on the roof, your hand slips off as you fall on the floor. It is that slick! After the clay bar treatment, a decent coat of modern car wax provides a surface that dirt and grime can't adhere to.

As for the famous wheel wobble, my tried & true cure is to have the front tires shaved and balanced to remove the cupping and flat spots on the tread. Yes, there are other heathen ogres in this forum with alternative snake oil solutions, but mine is the One True Path to steering wheel salvation.

You can't post a picture directly, you have to post it to one of the many photo sharing sites like photobucket then insert the link in when you pick the picture icon. See sticky near the top of this section.

One of the beauties of these cars Sheldon is that they respond to a little tuning, [setting up the cars, & getting valve clearance & ignition timing just right],

Getting rid of the built in wheel wobble also helps, along with a wheel alignment, as does fitting decent tyres, if yours are getting a bit old, & learning how much better the steering response is with the right tyre pressure.

My first 7 just kept getting better with each little improvement, so you still have lots of fun to come.

I just dropped off the 7 to get the paint touched and buffed. I will try to get some good pictures on smugmug. I am very happy with my dream car. The few things that need attention will be fun to sort out. The wheel wobble happens at 55 to 65 then worked its way out. The place I took the car said there is a bushing at the bottom of the steering column that bees replaced an the bushings in the front are dried out. I want to do as much is I can from now on, to the car. I wanted the professionals to make sure it was safe and the motor was tuned ,but now I want to be as British as I can, and do as much work on it as I can, in my shed. I want to thank you all ahead of time for your help.
