Hi all, thanks for the very warm welcome. I bought her on a whim, found on ebay and purchased after the seller ended the listing early as there were (in his words) "some very strange questions and requests" from ebayers! So I emailed him, agreed a price and the deal was done. I have been running around in her and she has done more than I expected on mpg and the grin factor. I feel transported back to the 70's and once squeezed in, the legroom is great.I intend to use as my daily drive for the short 4 mile round trip to work every day and weekend drives. How weird that the other one appeared on ebay in the same colours? Are these factory options or aftermarket colours? I was thinking of having the roof sprayed brown but not so sure after seeing the other. The wheels are Dolly Sprint I was told, nice polished rims although I may upgrade when I find out the pcd and offset. Overall, she is a 70's BL coupe that is beginning to rust but was worth every penny and argument with the Mrs! Pic of me ol 1300 as requested although she looks a little worse for wear now.....

Hi Steve,

The colour of your car is Russet Brown which even in the 70s
was not the most popular of colours.
When the car left the factory it would of been completely Brown as BL never did a two tone factory paint job.
The BL dealers however would occasionally jazz a coupe up in a bid to move it on and this could have happened to your car. I think a lot of Brown coupes could of received this treatment.
I would not of thought they would go the trouble or expense of fitting Dolly sprint wheels so I would expect they've been added by
a previous owner along with the aftermarket sunroof.

Thanks Roy. The roof has definately been sprayed recently and is ok but not amazing. I dont intend to even begin to restore her, have been down that road before with my dad and his MK1 64 Austin 1100 with 26k miles and its a money pit and nightmare haha! Just want to enjoy her as is and keep her running. She has issues with certain area's of bodywork but overall is ok. Do you know where I can find the commission number? I wanted to check for the ACG for Speke or the Canley/Solihull numbers although it doesnt really matter as bought her now !!![:D]

Steve,

Should find the ACG number on the passenger door.
Your car was definitely built at Speke even though it has the later decals on the boot.

Just use and enjoy her for what she is but if your going to use her
all year round I advise you ask for a big can of waxoil for Christmas
and get into every nook and cranny you can find.

Thanks for tha advice Roy, I will put waxoil on my christmas list. Ron, the Austin was my daily drive until I decided that having invested Â£2400 in her, enough was enough after the garage I used to get a replacement clutch ballsed it up and ruined the new clutch kit with the wrong size seal (metric instead of imperial) and I then found a nice split in the drivers floorpan. Coupled with the need for two new rear tyres after a blowout on the A12 to London for the Enfield Pageant, she is not getting anymore money out of me haha! I loved driving her and felt it my duty to keep her going as I have a FULL history on her from day one but hey ho. She will probably end up sitting on my dads drive rusting away slowly in peace [:I]
