Gearbox Rear Oil Seal

Postby REPLIC8 » 19 Jun 2011 11:50

My gearbox is leaking from the rear oil seal around the output shaft. How easy is this to replace? Can't find any info in the workshop manual.

Remove this nut and flange and pull the seal out. Check Rimmers catalog for how the parts stack up.

Bear in mind that this nut can be pretty tight.
Ideally you'll need an impact wrench.

With the correct tools it’s a 5 minute job
(with the car on axle stands)

When I reassembled mine I was able to get 90 ft/lbs on it. I called it good.
