Living near the coast (Blackpool) it maybe salty deposits from the rain/morning dew, drying and staining the paint.
Took a drive to the coast one day and got caught in a shower, then the sun came out for the rest of the day. Got home and noticed the same as yours. Marks wouldn't come out by just washing the car, so I used my Das6 orbital polisher, Megs 105/205 and 4" pads followed by wax. Done the job nicely.

right I had few hours on it this evening, now i not one who likes to use T-Cut but i had a bash with some, and i think when i have had polished in the past with orbital buffers and compounds etc. that they were a bit afraid of taking too much paint off wimps[;)].

Anyway 3 hours to T-Cut polish and wax my boot lid and rear wings and this is the result i got by hand,
I have no doubt that as Steve @ S&S recommended a DA buffer in the right hands should do the trick as its not perfect but its a dam sight better I masked off one side so i could see the difference and I was rather pleased with self:

and then with both sides done.....

and with the boot rack back on I use stainless steel bolts with wing nut to make it easier to take off for cleaning etc.

It even got rid of the streaks down the side of the rear wing...

Now as Stevie A once told me i need to use some of that T-Cut on my not so clear rear window.

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!

I've used this product to bring back my windows to clear. I had clear windows (original top) but I had put on Meguiars Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner and Restorer on the top and let it soak in over the winter. One of the first spring trips we got the inevitable shower and it washed it off the top and it clouded the windows. I was bummed. It came back to clear by rubbing this in till dry with a soft cloth. It's a light blue creme.

Happy again.[8D]

Gaz, one of these is what I use, much easier than doing it by hand...

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing ... d_519.html

Before spending any money on products for the rear window, use your Auto Glym SRP. Get some one to hold a piece of board on the other side so you can apply a bit of presure to the window while polishing.
Done my mates for him using SRP and it worked fine.
If it's too far gone try this...
