On the way home from our annual Triumphs at Taupo I detoured a couple of hours north to Te Awamutu where the local Triumph club was holding their big annual do. A bit of an own goal in terms of scheduling but since we do ours on the Saturday & theirs is on the Sunday it was possible to do them both. Here's the slideshow of the cars on display:

While I was there I signed up to the TR Register. The car in the pics is the president's TR8. The club lists 8 TR8s in their membership which you would have to say is probably 7.5 more than they should. You never know though.
On the way up I caught up with Karl in his Fiat powered Vitesse that had also been at Taupo & we ripped up the fantastic Waipapa Road winds through native bush then opens out through farmland & briefly meets the Waikato river just for a bit of icing on the cake. Roads like these just make life worth living & watching the autumn leaves in the rear view mirror being kicked up into the face of an open top Vitesse is also quite special. [:D] I took the same route on the way back & stopped for a photo opportunity at a hydro dam. Here it is in full size.
FYI, Te Awamutu is where Neil & Tim Finn from bands Split Enz & Crowded House grew up.
