Kneepads on console

I have NOS kneepads for my heater console and I noticed they are formed the opposite way of the contour of the console. Are these supposed to bend backwards to create some kind of tension to keep the attaching clips in place?

<font color="green"><b>I have got my old set of pads and a new set and they both are shaped with a bend in the middle so that they fit flush against the centre console. The clips go in all OK and the whole units fit nice and flush against the plastic console.

I have always wondered, what does NOS mean?</b></font id="green">

Yeah I understand how they're supposed to contour but mine are backwards it seems. I can bend them back wards to fit but they seem stressed.
