That's the VIN plate - hopefully your worries are over - still worth doing some sort of HPI check to make sure its Kosher though.

I will do that tomorrow, I'm just glad now that it doesn't look like the identity is being hidden and ill be able to apply for a V5.

So the plan would be to restore the shell and fit a sprint engine.

Are there any good guides online for sprint conversions?

That is indeed the vin number. This as John has rightly pointed out is indeed a very late Speke car with a five speed box probably built in the last few weeks before the factory was closed, so for me it's a very interesting car and should be saved.

Would this speke built car have the Earlier '4 speed' lighter axle? what was the heavier (2HA i think) axle fitted?

Keen to find out as much as possible about the car..

The F on the vin plate denotes five speed box. It should therefore have the heavier axle too.
