New Front Fog Lights

Postby mak » 22 Mar 2015 10:29

Fitted some new front fogs for Martina.

Highly un-original, but I think they work well with the shape and look of the car.

These are PIAA LP530 LED fogs on the original brackets, but I also used a anti-dive spacer cut in half and trimmed down as a spacer block. The light temperature isn't perfectly matched to the headlamps, but these are halogen so hopefully should be able to fiddle around to get it to work.

Mak - I'm guessing you're in the UK - How on earth did you manage to get that number-plate?

It was first registered in 1993. It belonged to the owner of a Garage in Edinburgh (think KSX is Penicuik.)

Was on an age related plate until recently, found out that the car keeps it's original reg, so I asked the DVLA very nicely if I could have it back.

That's cool

I've seen A, B, C and D plates before but nothing this late.

I had a 2 week spell working in Henly's wholesale division in the early 80's. Dozens of MGB's and and TR7 FHC's were still on their books unsold a couple of years after production stopped. Some were under cover in a multi storey car park. Some were unlucky enough to be stored in the open.

Sorry, back to the spots / fogs.

I think the small size under the bumper suits it but I'd prefer them a little lower even if the trade off is a more likelihood of stone damage. If my wedge looked as good as yours I'd be happy. I've have to replace the smashed glass several times on my moderns.

Thanks - I know what you mean.

For the stone damage i'm trying prop tape (used on bikes to stop stone chips so had some left over.) as they didn't come with cover. Will have to see what the temperature of the lights does to it....

Thanks.

Car's history was that it was kept in storage by the owner of a Garage in Edinburgh for his retirement in 1993 when it was registered by a garage in Penicuik. I bought it from the 2nd owner about ten years ago but sold it. Regretted this ever since and bought it back in November. Had done 11,000 miles when I bought it and now it's done 34,000. Has a great engine built by S&S & the last owner really looked after it but the body work is just starting to show signs of it's age so plan is to enjoy it for a year or so and then get this properly sorted out. (refitted the one headlamp recently and discovered the passenger side of the headlamp panel is about 5mm too far back - not sure if this is old accident damage or just the standard panel fit!
