Since fitting a new hood I have tried every possible permutation of folding it,all with varying degrees of success.I undo the velcro over the rail,pull the window back over the boot and that is where it goes wrong.The instructions say fold the side windows in but no matter how I try it seems that the side windows crease as the fixed part at the rear is the same width as the distance between the windows.Any tips?Steve..

a quick summary of the official instructions;

Un-do the velcro strip inside the hood (at the top of the roof);
Un-do all poppers (4 per side) and release the header rail;
Fold the hood back onto the boot;
Pull the hood back at the top of the rear screen so the rear window lies flat on the boot;
Fold the side windows over taking care to fold the hood fabric not the plastic windows;
Take hold of the top of the rear screen again and fold it back over the hood stowage area (the side windows will be underneath);
Push flat making sure no plastic windows have been folded & attach hood cover.

I always tuck the front of the folded hood underneath the frame, making sure the windows are not folded.

I have the same problem as Steve. I follow the official instructions, but no matter how the side window flaps are folded over, the corners of the side windows get folded a bit. The section of the rear center edge of the hood that is permanently attached is just too wide.

I follow the factory / Beans instructions and have no issues. It's possible that aftermarket hoods have slightly different sized clear plastic inserts.

Mine is the same, folds the corners of the side 'windows'. By the looks of it the guy in the triumphtr7.com instructions has the same problem (fig 3). The only other tip which I have still not got around to is to put some material (old towel etc) over the header rail before folding the hood forward, stops the 'knobs' on the release levers scratching the windows.

I ran across another guy the did the towel/hood latch thing. I have the original hood and it is really tight between folding it so the fold isn't in the corner windows. Of course being 34 years old it has to be very warm out or have the help of a hair dryer to get the vinyl soft enough to make the fold right. Still looks like new though.[8D]

Looks like I am following the correct procedure as per sticker on header rail but I am not alone in that the fixed part appears to be as wide/wider than the gap between the side windows.Others also appear to have the same problem,Repeat orders for aftermarket hoods?,or is that cynical.I willjust have to be careful or not fold the hood.Thanks,Steve..

My hood is aftermarket (from S&S, 2007) and no problems there.
But ... It is essential that you manually press the centre tube down before you start folding the roof.
Also fold the side windows over the seam. And after you fold everything forward tuck the side windows nicely away under the rest of the hood.

My car has the original top, still have the problem. One other thing I do sometimes is to zip down the rear window an lay it flat inside before starting to take the top down. Makes it a bit easier to manipulate the rest of the top.
