Yellow FHC / Green Check on the BBC

Postby busheytrader » 26 Oct 2014 05:35

A six part comedy series on BBC 4 with Mackenzie Crook, the actor from The Office / Pirates of the Caribbean. Maybe best described as a dry comedy.

One of the nerdy lead characters drives a yellow green check FHC which appears to be in good nick. It's quoted by him as "a classic" when someone has a pop at him about it. IIRC the Wedge doesn't appear until episode 3.

For those of us in the UK all the screened episodes are on iplayer as per the link. Those outside will have to google it I suppose.

I agree Dave, I started watching it just because of the car, but actually think it's a pretty good program. [:)]

I like the way the character has photos of the TR7 on his walls at home as well.

I like the programme but the photos did seem a bit over the top.
Do we think he is a little obsessed with the car?
More than we are?

Some UK programs are shown on PBS stations, some times the names of the programs are changed (don't know why they do this), I found out by accident when talking to a doctor in the UK. We where comparing favourite UK programs when she mentioned one that was the same as one over here called Good Neighbours. I think it was just called Neighbours over there or maybe something completely different. We get PBS (American) stations here as well as most of their other ones. In addition we get BBC Canada (optional) on which are selected UK programs to keep all the expates in touch with the homeland.

The Americans often redo British programs with American actors but they are never as good. Only the Brits can do their Brit's stuff. The sole exception is Gracepoint which is the Americanized Broadchurch (as good not better). They did keep David Tennant which is probably why (but with dropped English accent). They do have an English girl playing the Inn keeper. It's unusual to hear a British accent in America except at Disney World during UK's spring break where every fourth voice is British.

For a while we got a lot of Australian programs (that I used to watch). Went golfing with a friend's brother from Australia and he was amazed I could speak Australian even though I'd never been there.

The good news is that at the end of the last one the BBC announcer said there will be a new series next year.
