As a side note: Not all Solihull cars were SAT. My Solihull July, 1980 built Spider is TP. Whether that is because a block of 2,000 VIN's were set aside for the Spider (which I think gave rise to the speculation that 2,000 Spiders were built although it isn't known yet if all VIN's were used, I believe that is in the process of being investigated) or whether other TP VIN's were used in Solihull. I thought TP were '80 cars and SAT's were '81-'82 cars.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
The SAT prefix came in at VIN406001, which was around May 81. It is the so called "World Manufacturer Code" where S = Europe, A = UK, T = Triumph. SAT was simply added in front of the existing VIN sequence. So it is indeed correct that not all Solihull built cars were SAT Vins.
