Went and bought another one!!

Postby mnypitTR » 08 Jul 2014 20:33

Some of you guys probably remember me. I have had a great many TR7s and a few TR8s. Well I have gone and done it again. Just bought a 1980 TR7 V8 that has been sitting since the 90s in a garage. It is completely rust free and has a 1962 Buick 215 in it. Hasnt done very many miles since the whole drive train was rebuilt, engine trans and rear end. It just hasnt been started for many years.

So wish me luck. It is still in the storage unit where I bought it because I do not currently have a place for it, so it will be a few weeks before I get it home to tinker.

The U Pull It yard up the street has 2 Land Rover Discoverys with complete and running 4.0 liter engines. I will help you pull one if you help me pull one.

All that heavy stuff on the top shelf (paint cans, vacuum) ready to fall on your car is making me nervous.[:p]

I only put light cardboard boxes of parts up there.[:)]

That stuff has been up there, and then some, for at least 10 years. There used to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission and transfer case up there. I have had much more valuable cars parked there without issue. Those shelves are tough and they are bolted to the concrete wall. The stainless shelve unit and everything you see on it came with the car, and I still haven't gone through the trunk. Nothing great yet, but I am still looking.

Engine is running beautiful. Nice idle(a little lumpy but the guy told me the cam is pretty aggressive), revvs great. Got a clutch master, slave and hose from a guy in Sarasota that I swear I either bought a car from or sold one too. Small world I guess.

You'd reckon someone could come up with a cure for this damn disease.
