Just use an octane booster if you use regular petrol. supercass

I always buy regular from the supermarket (7 cents off per litre in store). N/A 8 to 1 pistons. Friend who has upgraded his Spitfire to UK spec. uses mid grade.

Sainsbury's Super Unleaded is good in my V8, I believe it is BP. A quick search of other forums backs this up.

Supermarket fuel is not of the same standard as from a major petrol retailer such as Shell, BP, Texaco and the like. It's made to a price point and sometimes results in problems for certain cars.

I use 95 octane unleaded but boost it with the Castrol FBHVC approved octane booster which costs around £10 for five full tanks of fuel. Which probably means it's cheaper than super unleaded (but that would be easier).

Hi,

Must admit the V8 has only ever been run on super unleaded, but may look into a branded ' normal ' fuel with octane booster would be cheaper to do so for sure.

Cheers John

All UK fuel must meet British and European standards - EN228 for unleaded and for diesel EN590.

There are not that many refineries in the UK. Their petrol output is all the same stuff (meeting the above standards) but supermarket fuel may have different or less additives than the oil company brand names. That is the only difference.
