The MGF was never imported to the States due to slight differences in emission and safety standards between North America and Europe, and the lack of a dealer network. There was a plan for awhile to build the MGF in North America, but it all came to naught after the Chinese purchased MG.

There are a handful of private MGF imports in the USA and more in Canada.
Most MGF / TFs Were sold in the UK, Europe, Japan, & Australia with the rest scattered around the rest of the world

There is a guy in Vancouver, BC who imports MGF from Japan and resells them, if they are older than 15 years they can come in as a collector car. You can also do it privately. If they come from Japan they come directly to Vancouver. If they come from UK (one club member imported a LHD model from the Netherlands) they have to land in Halifax then shipped across Canada by rail etc.) or land in Tacoma,WA then you have to find an honest bonded shipper (most will try to rip you off) to get it across the border into Canada. You're dealing with a lot inter governmental BS. It would be a lot easier for you US guys (no cross border shipping) if you can import them as collector cars if you have a collector car rule.

Space savers will at least get you going, but puncture repair kits or spray stuff are only OK if you have a normal puncture from a nail or similar, they don't help if you have more serious damage. A few years back I was unlucky enough to run over some builders debris that had fallen in the road. It put big holes in the sidewalls of two tyres so no repair kit was going to fix that and naturally I only had the normal one spare - so what to do? I was only about half a mile from a local tyre depot so I put the spare on the front (it was a front drive car) and drove carefully on the flat rear to the depot. Not ideal but the tyre was scrap anyway so nothing to lose.

One of our club members would give s report on the British car industry at our meetings. As I remember it, the reason they weren't imported to N/A was BMW thought it would interfere with their Z3/Z4 sales as they weren't that far apart in price. When the Chinese bought the MG/Rover group from BMW, they were supposed to open a plant in the US (I think it was SC or NC) as well as sell their other cars (Rover is now called Rower either because the Chinese can't pronounce the V or to differentiate from Land Rover). It never came to be (yet).

From what I read, the MGF space saver spare is on a 14" wheel. Woody's web site says his big brake kit needs at least a 14" rim, so the MGF spare should work if I could get one to the States. WedgeParts in the States now seems to be working towards importing used MGFs, but they weren't interested in getting me a set of MGF alloys when I inquired last year.

I found a 15 x 3-1/2" Rover/MG compact spare wheel at Rimmer Brothers. The picture shows four bolts; I've emailed asking them if it's a 3-3/4" bolt circle.
