Oils seals

Took my 7 for it's MOT yesterday, pleased to say it passed with no advisories. Had look underneath to see where an oil leak may be coming from and there seems to be two. One from the front crankshaft oil seal and one from the oil seal at the rear of the gearbox by the propshaft flange. Can't find any info on replacing these, I'm assuming they just prize out & then press another one in? Doesn't look too complicated, or am I missing something?

Andy, Don't think it is getting the old seals out it is getting to the seals in the first place.
Front one maybe easier but taking off the crank pulley, radiator etc is quite a job as I think you may need a impact wrench to get the pulley nut off.
Page 73 of the Work Manual on www.tr7.co.uk shows how the seal is replaced.

The Gear Box one maybe easier as it pops out after the prop & flange are off page 194 of manual.

All these tasks are easier with engine & box out.
Me I would invest in a plastic tray or 2 filled with cat litter to catch the drips [:D]

No need to remove the radiator or use an impact wrench.

Very interesting Beans, I too thought at first it was leaking at the back of the engine, but I'm thinking it's coming out of the front & running to the back. I need to purchase a 38 mm ring spanner as I only have socket which gets caught up in the fan.

Or an 1 1/2 AF one mate as same size in old money, should be able to find one at a auto jumble as the same size of the bolt holding on the clutch / flywheel on early front wheel drive A series cars.

Thanks for that John, just got one off Ebay for £6. [:D] Seems AF spanners are cheap compared to metric.
