Of the 8 bolts holding down the two seats 7 looked brand new like they just came out of the factory and one was rusted solid. The anomaly I could only assume was from something like a spilt coke on the bolt causing it to rust prematurely. It took me a week to get it out working it in and out with soaking with penetrating oil. There is no way I was going to force it, brake it off and have to drill into the bolt to get it out (I hate that). I had plenty of time as I was doing a fall/winter of removing interior and spruce up so time wasn't an issue. It eventually came out and I replaced it with an Allen head bolt which is easier to remove than the Torx heads. I've used anti seize as they extend down below the floor.

On my extremely rusty car 7 of the bolts undid easily but the 8th had been replaced at some time by an ordinary set bolt and nut.As the head will not fit into the seat runner and the nut is no longer captive it was loose and the seat rocked about which probably contributed to the floor cracks on the tunnel.As the seatbelts mount to the seat the years of MOT passes were obviously lenient.Steve..

On my car 1 seat had 4 equal length bolts. The other seat had 3 different lengths. Just whatever bolts where in the bin at the time it was bulit I suppose.

Outside bolts screw into thick steel plates located inside the box sections.
These plates can move a bit, that's why it looks to be badly aligned in the picture.
The inside bolts screw into nuts welded to strengthening plates on the underside of the floor.
The spot welds for these plates are also visible in the picture.

Put it in the air . The passenger rear was hard to see with the silencer over it.
Bet it makes it a little harder to remove with the heat on it.
The drivers rear, a piece of cake, to spray
The fronts...they like to hide them buggers

Hope the bolts on the channels are OK
They are shinny so hope they come out OK> Can't get any penetrating spray in there.!

On mine the Torx bolts are all the same length.

There was a thread sometime back stressing that all the original bolts are high tensile strength and shouldn't be substituted with a lesser item. I know which ones I'd choose to have holding my seat and seatbelts in place in the event of a crash.

Went to ACE and picked up a 1/4 drive socket for it.
The ones on the inside that you can actually spray came out easier.
Just now pulled the seat

Has anyone measured the seat bolts for size.
Just measured mine.
A strange size.
8mm is to small and 10mm is way to large
same with 5/16 and 3/8's
Is there such a bolt as 9mm??

Yes there is, the French use odd sizes like 7 & 9mm. Why? Who knows, it would seem that they just like to be different than everybody else.

Now, having said that, it's highly unlikely the they would be found on a Triumph, unless someone working on the car over the years decided to resize them.
However it is likely that they have a differnt thread count than those you tried to screw in.

I pulled them out and stuck them in a thread gauge.
That's how I determined my findings.
Have not done a thread size yet as my garage was a little chilly for how I was dressed this morning

Don, the bolts are a self-locking type, if you roll them in your fingers you probably can feel that they are slightly triangular.
