A bit off piste I suppose, but how was it? I have only got experience of the V8 tr7 and the 1850hl.

It also had lowered springs and spax adjustables, together with Sprint alloys. It had 105bhp as opposed to the 90 bhp of the 1850HL - main bottleneck for power being the poor exhaust manifold.

We used ours as an every day car for 10 years, up to 20,000 miles a year, did get through 2 engines in that time, but the biggest problem was keeping on top of the minor rust weeps from seems etc over the winter, it ended up 20 shades of persion Aqua which is why I painted it a easy to touch up non metallic blue eventually.

Now I use a 1961 landrover in the winter, much more practical and the tatty look suits it!

This morning I decided to build a car using all the new parts from my Grinnall and installing them in a fixed head shell. I have a 3.9 Land Rover engine( TVR chip), close ratio gearbox, TR8 subframe and PAS rack, 5 stud conversion, 2.84 axle and 16 inch Compomotive split rim wheels. All the parts are unused and fitted to my rot free Grinnall shell. Because of the body mods I have never been interested in finishing the Grinnall but am raring to go on this new project which will be built around a solid rust free Solihull shell. I also have the magnolia leather interior and beige Wilton carpet which will complete the interior. Hope to get started next winter after the Sparkrite rally car is finished.

What bonnet do you have there on your car?

Do you have any close-ups of it?

Steve,
it's a basic single hump bonnet with an after market vent cut into it to clear the carbs on the v8. I'll do some close up images later but it reveals the poorest part of the car with the fibreglass lifting in places. It is quite crudely done and has just had an appropriately sized hole cut in to it with the fibre glass scoop slotted in and filled.

The underneath, please ignore my fiddling with the vents and stuff, just trying things.

The top side, you can see where it hasn't been brilliantly moulded in however as the previous owner had to cut through the bonnet bracing, I imagine that it flexes a lot and that probably caused the problem.
