Well This is Very Scary

Was walking behind the car yesterday when I see this.
It had been pretty windy and maybe(??) blew from underneath.
Does anyone recognize it?
My first thought was a brake part

Looks very much like a short door hinge pin ?

But far too short for the bottom hinge.

Not so scary then. Looks like your TR7 is trying to turn itself into a Mini Moke. At least it's got the right brake pads for it.[:D]

As it is (almost certainly) the lower pin from the upper hinge,
chance is it will fall out again.
Ad a <u>little</u> weld to it and it will remain in place.

If you don't want to burn the paint, try getting everything very clean, lubricating the moving area, & use Loctite on the non moving part.

You would want to clean it/hinge up good first in contact area as nothing sticks good to dirt/grease.

I was wondering if you could tap/squish the splines out a little bit with an anvil or vise and a flat punch while someone (third hand) held it on the vise. That would give it more bite. Don't know if it would work, just a thought.
