Thanks John, just tried that calculator and the likely cost comes in just short of £100, so they will probably have to remain on the "nice things to have" list.

I think there is also a ?£12 fee that is charged on top of the £100 purely for the privilege of taking your money off you!! supercass

Steve,

I have them fitted in my car, even in our climate they are worth having.
As for location they are in the "A" post behind the trim and in the UK cars the hole has a riveted plate that leads into the inner wing area.

they take the air flow from the front of the car down inside the wing area - so its ambient air rather than hot from the engine bay.

Cheers

Ian

For any item imported from outside the EU HMRC will convert the price you paid in foreign currency (eg $)to GBP at a rate they decide. If the value is less than GBP15 there is no charge to pay but if it is more than GBP15, then you will pay import duty on the GBP value for which the % rate varies according to the goods. Then HMRC will charge you VAT at 20% on the total. HMRC use the Post Office to collect the Duty & VAT before the item can be delivered to you, the Post Office add their own fee of £8. Triple whammy & can make importing items pretty expensive!

Makes me glad we have only a few days (weeks) we have weather so hot I'd need extra vents in the foot well (and that would be at the handful of stop lights we have in town). I'd put them in if I could get them for ten bucks. We have to pay $5 flat rate customs from the post office and 5% GST (Goods and service tax) and if we buy from a Canadian dealer (eg. a Moss dealer) we don't pay customs but pay the 5% GST and 7% PST (provincial sales tax) at point of sale. But then we don't have national dental care.

Could we get some made?

Is it a door on a hinge?

Yes, in a frame that rivets/screws to a pressed recess in the body.

It also has a couple of hair type springs, to keep it open or closed.

I know because I have both versions in our wedges.) - So, what you Brits should do is
find the original manufacturer and make a big enough run of originals!

They do make a huge difference on hot days as long as you are moving. I usually wear sandals and the cool breeze on my toes is very nice. It gets a bit warm when stuck at a light or in traffic. Once you start moving it feels real good, I highly recommend them.

Another thought
Here is my original. I assume it is a NA driver's side
Image

I was wondering why mine has the dogleg in it.
Then while I was adding the pic to Photobucket I saw this pic

Image

So in the vent pic there is a hole.Is that suppose to be left uncovered?

Now comparing the one of mine I posted with the nice catalogue page from VB that Darrell sent me.
I think that is the NA passenger side
Why are they different?
I'd look in my garage but it is TOOOOOOOO cold to look
I've really gotten soft since I moved to the south!!
