Footwell fresh air vents

There has been some chat on the TR7/8 list about the fresh air vents fitted on some cars in warmer climates. They seem like a good idea and are a relatively easy retro fit but are totally NLA.
Ted Schumacher does some stainless reproductions which he sells at $104.94 (about £63.75) plus postage. Just wondering if I might try some.

My car has them as original fitment. I can say that they do move the air quite well. First cold day in the fall is when they are most noticeable. Then I find myself at a stop light with a gear shift in my ribs as I try to close the passenger side one. [;)]

Not sure I'd bother fitting them to a DHC though.

My v8 dhc does get uncomfortably hot in the footwells on the few hot days we have, I would consider fitting them but not at the price above, there are various surface mounting vents avaliable from the likes of car builder solutions I might fit these instead.

Hi Russ,

I did email Ted a while ago and he was out of stock, new stock due in next week, I going to get a set, then hope and pray we get a summer to make use of them !!

Got some trims of Steve up at S & S Prep, wrong colour but got some blue leather trims without the cut outs to strip and cover them, or use as templates.

Jeez, DNK; I should have charged you $150 for those vents I pulled from the car in Vancouver! After all, original equipment has got to be worth more than aftermarket stuff[:D]

They did have a trim panel around them in that car, but the fiberboard was soaked and they weren't in good condition. I should have taken one as a template so you could cut your own.

Yes, I didn't want to buy Teds as I will powder coated them.
I could use a cardboard template.
If I remember right I have solid ones in my stash "O" parts.

The footwell vents are one of my favorite features , they move a nice amount of air around the footwells and are especially enjoyable on longer drives when you want the comfort of the roof up and the music on.

I open mine up as soon as the windows go down in the spring and only close them up once the cooler weather hits in the fall.

There are sites that will calculate the amount of VAT and inport duty, not sure how accurate they are though, example such as -
