Hi all i just found a way of putting power steering into tr 7 for under 500 .00 well under under it if you want to know how send msg or call me 07835416769 thanks for reading sorry should have said its an. Electric power steering unit you need

I haven't seen an electric power steering that I like yet. Give me standard or variable assist of an old fashioned pump. Just getting old I guess.[:p]

I don't have it on my 7 but I have seen several escorts with a corsa derived set up and manual assist setting using a controller off ebay, this seems the ideal solution to me, turn it up when parking leave it off the rest of the time. If you use the complete donor column it is just a matter of the one column connection and some brackets, gets a bit more complicated if you want to keep the standard upper column.

It probably comes down to what you are used to, but the only really bad thing about My S2000 Honda is the awful, too light, too quick no feel power steering.

The worst thing by far about my wifes new Ford Fiesta, among a very long list of bloody awful things, is the overly light, too quick, no feel power steering.

I have driven Stag76s 7 sprint, with his power steering, & it is the only power steering I have liked, since the 1996 Hilux ute. The car is nice to drive, but if you couldn't see what you were driving, you'd think it was an early 2000 car, not an old 1980 car.

Hell, I'm only 73, far too young to need power steering, & too set in my ways to put up with it.

My wifes Pug 207 has electric power steering with a very quick rack. After a proper car you get caught out at low speed, the steering wheel can be twirled with a finger (keep telling her it is not good for the joints to twirl when stationary). It weights up at speed but can still be very twitchy when making minor corrections on the motorway at speed. But then she complains that my Saab is too heavy but feels fine to me...

The big three in years long past had finger light power steering so that you could twirl the steering wheel with one finger in the parking lot. I'm sure there was many a house wife that thought the easier the better. My '71 Javelin had a modicum of feed back that as far better and going up and back from Calgary and Edmonton in the dead of winter, you'd see lots of cars of all makes in the ditch as on the icy roads with now zero feed back would put you in the ditch were as with the Javelin you could feel the slippery traction, light though it was.

The '91 Integra has variable assist that decreases as speed increases and has good feed back. Other newer cars I've driven have no feedback like Subaru SUV, Dodge Caravan, Mazda 3. Drove my sister's Mazda at Xmas, no feedback and the fly by wire throttle is programmed to surge the car to give the impression of lots of power making it impossible to take off smoothly with out intense concentration. Give me a cable any day. While I'm ranting get rid of that useless accessories computer (body module, ICU) and interlocks and give me my switches and standard wiring and get rid of those metallic dashes, this is not 1960. Stuck in the past. [:(!]
