Early FHC Wanted For Magazine Shoot

Postby john 215 » 11 Jan 2014 05:41

Hi,

Just before Xmas I was approached by a leading classic car magazine for info on our car's and source suitable car for a magazine article . They want ideally a early FHC ( Speke built would be best ), MUST be standard, MUST have a mint standard interior and MUST have a clean standard engine bay. One of the biggest problem is that the shoot is within the next few weeks ( during the working week at a guess ) so car will need to be legal on the road now, some people apparently don't use there cars during the winter [;)] ! It will done at Beaulieu Motor Museum in there studio so unless you don't mind driving a long way down sssooouuuttthhh would be better.

I could use my FHC but would like to offer the chance to anyone else with such a car, not sure mine is good enough [:I]. Also the engine bay has been Ziebarted [:(!] IF I end up using mine a picture of Piemento with no Ziebart could be used if anyone has such a thing ??

If you can help then P.M. me or reply here and I will email you and try and sort something out.

Cheers John

Hi Chris,

That's very good of you, if you can ( or Robert )email me some I can forward them to the guy doing the article.

Put a request ( well my learned friend Gaz has ) on the new TRDC Facebook page, if unlike myself you do Facebook then check this page out, with Gaz and Simon running it then bound to be good [8D], may even join myself one day ! Hopefully Gaz can post a link to it [8D]

Cheers John

Cheers John,
As John says Simon Bryan (Triton7) & myself (Garry Yorke) are responsible for the new TRDC Facebook page I'll post a new topic so this thread isn't hijacked.

Speke's volumes when we are struggling to find a nice original early coupe for a magazine article. If the magazine had asked for a genuine TR8 here in Hampshire there wouldn't be a problem, but try and find a TR7. very sad[V]

Similar problem in my part of the world - loads of TR8s and V8ed cars but when you need an early hardtop 2litre car they all seem to be in sleep mode for the winter.

good luck John.

Do magazines not offer reasonable expenses for photo sessions ?

£150 would cover a trailer & fuel for someone to bring a suitable car.
Downside is when you do it DIY - my car's tow bar (Mazda 6 Diesel 2.2 Ltr ) has a weight max of 1800 kg so with a TR7 plus trailer we are near max legal limit.

So £200 would hire a Flatbed plus good will of owner to get a car to the film studio.

Feel sometimes we are providing a service for magazines as we are enthusiasts & do a lot off our own backs to 'Promote the cause of TR7's '

Quite understandable with peoples 'toys' tucked up against the salt grifters there can be a lack of available cars.
I polished my wives red Fiesta with 2 coats of polish last week & after a 5 mile trip to the gym came back white with salt & that was on a dryish road so you can imagine the rest [V]

Mine is taxed and insured, but not an early model and not Red.
