Not sure that it will be there at the weekend. Just heard they are evacuating the village prior to opening the flood-gates at the Leigh Barrier. Flood could equal 1968 level, in my case five feet from the floor.....
That will be goodbye to the MX5. Hope the rumour is wrong...

Alan . Thank you for your kind offer. Where the Mazda is parked the water is just touching the bottom of the rim, but 8" indoors. To get it to the road I'd need to drive it through water 18/24" deep for a distance of forty yards, but then there's nowhere to go. If the flood-surge occurs the garage will be four-foot under water. No option other than leave it to chance I'm afraid.
We often suffer floods in Oz, between the droughts.
At least in my northern part of the country the rain comes in summer, & you are not being frozen to death by the cold of the flood water as you fight your way through.

very sad news Maxwell , as was mentioned its a terrible thing to have to live through at this time of the year when we should be all celebrating.
Hope everything turns out as best as it can , and you won't incure too much damage at the home. Prayers for you and everyone in the UK having to deal with the flooding.
(( not to forget my brothers to the west + south dealing with that huge ice storm that luckily this time passed just to side of us .....1998 was a year I would not have to experience again anytime soon ....))
