Xmas cards repost.

Postby FI Spyder » 22 Dec 2013 18:13

I'm reposting my first Xmas poem for the sake of those who are new to the forum and wishing all a Merry Christmas with your family and friends, may your stocking be stuffed with good things for next summers driving.

Twas the fortnight before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a computer mouse;
The TR7 was resting on blocks set with care,
In hopes that winter's projects would make summer driving so fair;
Thought the kittens were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of tuna dancing in their heads;
Mamma in her sweater, I by the fire,
Had just settled down to await weather dryer;
When out on the balcony arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the couch to see what's the matter.
Away to the french doors, but what did appear,
Three cats in the snow, playing with green boughs don't you know;
I whistled and shouted and called them by name;
"In Kali, in Kolie, in Seth, it's too cold for a game",
Covered in snow, from their head to their feet;
They head to the food dish, for something to eat.
Time to bed to dream of presents for the Spider,
Maybe knee pads or filters or tires that are wider.
As my head was starting to give a nod,
I remembered to utter to make it all right,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Merry Christmas to all! Thanks for the poetry and the photos. My wife like the car in front of the house. However the snow banks are much too high at our house to duplicate your photo. I have had to rake snow from my porch roof twice already because the snow drifts up there were above the upper story window sills.

Hoping for an early spring 2014 because winter sucks already. I am on my 4th tank of gas for the snowblower already.

Happy New Year too.

Merry Christmas to all from the Garden of England - a very soggy and windy garden at the moment, had heavy rain for days. My daughter sent me a nice snowy picture of the Peak District, looks nice and Christmassy up there.

Too soggy, I'm afraid. Real possibility of having water in tonight. That will make for a Happy Christmas. Still, at least the insurers will pay for running the dehumidifiers...

On a brighter note, the TR is stored on sightly higher ground, if that floods we're all in trouble!

A not-very-happy Maxwell!

Bit late for water wings. Christmas is cancelled. Water throughout lower floor to a depth of around six inches and rising. I kid ye not. All furniture apart from white goods and three piece suite dragged upstairs. White goods balanced on Tupperware boxes. Suite legs balanced on tins of soup....

Ho ho ho. Great time is being had by all.

Hi Andrew,

Sorry to hear of your unwelcome paddling pool, very, very wet and windy here in Luton Beds, but does have advantages of living on top of a hill, if it floods up here time start building an ark on checking Ebay for animals in pairs ! I hope xmas gets better for you mate.

Cheers John

Sorry to hear the news Andrew, it has been a shocking night of weather, lot of flooding here in Dorset although thankfully not near me at the moment.

Merry Xmas to everybody whatever your circumstances!

Update. Tins of soup failed to work, both suites ruined. White goods also look suspect - electricity to one half the house failed. Garden devastated. Will post pictures later, but not high priority at the moment! Marooned with nowhere to go....

Sorry to hear of the flood Andrew, v bad weather last night. Your place looked nice in the summer with the stream but wondered about the winter.
Just been to the other house, 60' silver birch on the boundary has come down, fell across the neighbours house roof and made a mess of it. Thankfully the garage where the TR7 is kept is the other end of the garden away from the big trees.

Blimey Andrew,

That sounds really bad - I've been out this morning and am really surprised at the devastation!
There is so much water sitting on top of the ground that can't get away - not helped round here because the river at the bottom of my road hasn't been cleared out for years.

I wish you well and hope you get some Christmas Spirit!

All the best

Ian

And I was feeling bad for the guys in eastern Canada who will be without power for Xmas because of their ice storms, you guys in UK have it worse with floods (and high winds I hear on news). It all balances out, I feel a little guilty with our average seasonal temps of 7C and sunny for the next ten days (we only have a 11% chance of a white xmas over the years).
