Best Wedge Show in the UK?

Postby V8Wedgehead » 22 Dec 2013 14:36

So I am thinking about crossing the pond and doing a car show that would be solely for TR7s/8s. My wife goes on solo/girlie getaways so I have always want to see England so as a consensus would be the show to attend? I think I deserve it! Also transportation & boarding?

TRDC Billing,
I'm sure someone will have a spare seat!

I would suggest the Tatton Park show or come over in November and do the NEC Classic car show.

Cheers, Paul

Billing looks like it will be a massive event next year. The TR Drivers Club have used it as the national weekend location many times but next year other clubs are coming in too so not only should there be around 80 wedges, a host of traditional TRs but also the heavily related Rover SD1 and hopefully the Dolomite variants. Should be a cracking show!

But as Paul says, if you'd prefer a general show then the indoor NEC Classic Car Show can't be beaten.

Hi Michael,

I agree with both my learned friends, if you go to Billing, best place for TR7's, then a few weeks later there is TR Register IWE this year with Stag Owners Club or there is the Standard Triumph Marque Day at the historic Brooklands race track in June.

Be great to meet up with you whenever you get over this side of the ditch.

Cheers John

June & July are probably the warmest time in the UK so you have 2 options -North or South. Sole TR7 Shows are very thin on the ground so best to go to a bigger show & see more cars.

Fly United Airlines from Washington direct to Manchester ( not a bad flight as did it last week ) gets into UK early morning.
Pick up a Hire Car at the Airport as there is plenty of choice - Hotels go onto Booking.com for plenty in the area.

Event in June is below which is the Northern TR Meeting for TR7 & TR8's plus 1000's of other makes.
20 mins form Manchester Airport.

ALL TR's ARE WELCOME, MASSIVE DISPLAY OF NON 'WEDGE' CARS TOO!!!
Date: 31st May & 1st June 2014, camping from 10:00am Friday.
Main show Information: Over 90 of the UK's top Classic and Performance Car Clubs attend, with 300+ private entries. Also 250 trade/autojumble stands, kiddies rides, adventure playground, Mansion, Gardens, Farm animals etc

ENTRY FORMS :- http://www.cheshireautopromotions.co.uk ... xhibit.pdf

If you are after Spares then S+S are in the area ( approx 30 mins from Manchester Airport )
http://ss-preparations.co.uk for all you would ever need so check website.

Take your Hire car down the Motorway about 2 hours to the http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk for all things Cars including TR's at the great Museum ( actually more than that ) to get your next fix.

That's it for the tour of the North Friday to Sunday
Day one Fly in & go to S+S for some shopping
Day Two Drive down to Birmingham to Gaydon
Day Three up to Tatton Park Sunday
Day 3/4 fly home Manchester

Go South in July 5th & 6th I think near Luton / London for the TR Annual meet at Billing - no experience of that one so someone else will fill you in.
If you just do a TR7 Show only this is the only one. Below is last years bash.

Michael,

Just let you know Neil W got the date wrong its the second weekend in July. The first weekend would have clashed with the F1 British Grand Prix.

The Events section of Billing website shows the VBOA (Vauxhall Bedford) rally there on the 2nd weekend of July? Is the TR event on at the same time?
