Cool Wall for members

Postby Paul_TR8 » 01 Dec 2013 19:32

Starting next year I plan to have a cool wall available at all of the main events throughout the year to celebrate the anniversary year of production. The idea being that you can come along to any event and place a picture of your car on the board. The board will then grow in size throughout the year. If you cannot attend then I will collect any photos via my email address or the club and post them on the board. Hopefully by the NEC we will have filled the board with a member's history of our lovely cars.

I probably will have different areas for example Speke. Limited editions etc

What are the thoughts on this?

Paul

Nice idea Paul, and yes I think it would be good to have a timeline across the board which would give an idea of the various factories & models, Ltd Editions, major changes like trim etc.

Maybe our friends at the TWOA could help with some pics of US spec cars, given that the States was the major market with the first TR7s on sale as well as their own special editions.

Hi,

I saw several clubs up at the NEC Classic Car Show last month with the same thing, Jag Owners Club etc. and they certainly grabbed mine and others attention.

That way everyone gets to display there car at a show and not just the lucky few. Will be happy to supply a picture of my two if they are good enough.

Cheers John

Looks like its a go. I will set up on the forum an address/email that owners can post/email the photos to me. I will also get the information put in the TR Driver on a regular basis to remind people.

I will confirm with Chris T the first event that the display will be at and arrange it to be displayed. I presume the first major event will be the Triumph/MG day at Stoneleigh in March.

For our overseas members I will dedicate a section for the export side. Can I ask that one of the members in that geographical area wouldn't mind being a focal point.

Also when we have articles on the events I will add how the board is evolving and how many cars we have. It will also be good to see how many of the production run is left.

Remember though the pictures do not have to be of the finished car we could take a snap shot of how the cars look in 2014, completed/ under restoration or in bits.

We are currently working on some good ideas in the back ground and trying to establish a focal point for the pictures and size etc. there should be an advert coming out in the new year in the TR driver that will give the details but we will also put them on the Forum and Web.

Ideas are also that we could at the end produce a picture mosaic using the pictures from the members. the main picture would be something like Harris's initial drawings and hopefully Harris will sign it. The idea is that we can then auction it off in 2015 and present it at one of the shows.

If the idea becomes popular we could possibly do more with say ones of the cars that were exported or FHC.

ideas are always welcome.

we are also looking at taking a snap shot of the cars we have in whatever condition they are in, for example they might be still in restoration.

this is gathering momentum which is good, any ideas please post or email direct.

Website now have a focal point for the cool wall. If you could send a picture of your car to the following email:trdc.editor@btinternet.com Andrew will collect all the photos together and get them printed. We will then display the photos on the cool wall at the events through out 2014,

Can you please ensure that the pictures are in jpeg format and the highest resolution possible. We hope that there is a good response and we will keep you updated as the wall progresses.

If you want to bring a photo along to events then please do.

Thanks again paul

I would but my digital cameras are old (1.3 megapixel) and am not getting a third until these give up the ghost.

Sounds like a great idea though.
