Headlight Relays

It's funny how when I am having issues with my car, I see posts from people who are having the similar issues.

It looks like my light switch got to hot and some of the parts have melted a little bit.

I have been using my car as my daily driver for a while not (I only have a 5 minute trip to work each day). As our days are getting shorter, I now need to have lights.

I am considering putting in a relays for the headlights, and I would like to know if anyone else has done this already. If yes, did you use a kit (which one)?

I have never been a big fan of Victoria British, but they have a kit that looks promising. Any comments on this one?

I used the vic brit one and am very happy with it. What they don't tell you in the instructions is that you need to release the wires from the light connector to feed them through our light pods. Then just reassemble them and you are good to go. Pretty simple kit.

I've got that kit but haven't installed it yet. Don't know when I'll get to it. I know a number of people have had problems with the switch but I never have. There is a certain amount of amps going through it and is bound to get a little warm which after many years can harden the plastic parts. Any time you put resistance in an electrical circuit you will get heat, think of an incandescent light bulb or a soldering iron, so make sure the connection pins on the block and the switch are clean.

Do the marking lights go through the kit too, or is it just low / high beams?

The Vicki brit kit only allows for the headlamps. I suppose you could make it work, but I didn't.

To connect the 3 prong plug to the lights, the metal connectors need to be removed from the 3 prong light plug so you can feed them through the small hole in the light pod housing. I used a small sliver of aluminum to release the push-on terminals from the plug. Then just re-install after feeding through the housing.
You also have to dissect the stock light plugs to remove them.

Sorry no pics but it will make perfect sense when you take your light apart.
