Last car show of the year (for me), was a short jaunt after the 800 mile many storied trip around Washington to get to and back from Portland. Great day out, ocean very calm, slight cool breeze to offset warm sun, forgot to use sun screen.

Very nice pictures, Merv. Looks like a terrific site for a show. I'll have to get back to Victoria some day. It's been 30 years.

I'm trying to convince Dolly that she needs a Dolomite Sprint instead of a MINI.

Hi,

Great pictures and thanks for sharing.

Love the Dolly Sprint, had one before my first 7, in Brooklands green ( brought it with a toasted engine at a bargain price ) and would have another one. Cant be that common over there ?

Actually John, I think it's one of two as they weren't imported. This one came by way of New York city from Switzerland so it's LH drive.

Free to stay here any time you make it over, Ken. Have to time it for one of out British cars shows (Father's Day, third week in June to Labour Day, first long weekend in September, the rest in between).

Hi,

Thanks for the pictures gent, always been one of those car's I regretted selling but had to go to make way for a seven, still got a couple of cylinder heads ( one fitted with a group 1 cam ) carbs, dizzy etc ' just in case '

They sell for reasonable money over here, but a lot cheaper than other performance 70's saloons, ie Ford Escort RS2000

This looked like an amazing place for a show , any background on the site??

I like the huge open area, and kinda think the circle of cars around the flag was a cool idea for the "featured?" vehicles.

Btw what is this ?? (It looks a wee bit like a Puma, but not quite...)

Ken, that Dolly Sprint might be the "other one" I mentioned, that shows up at the Van Dusen car show with Doug's orange one.

Ron, the red car is a GTM. It uses the front and rear of a Mini (switched around) and was available as a partial kit, full kit or completed car (in UK). He got it from a guy in Winnipeg who imported it and for 7 years didn't do anything with it. He had to re form the B post to correct the half inch window/door gap, make new trunk divider to seal engine bay from the trunk etc. etc. With a 2.90 rear end he turns 3,000 rpm at 60 mph. He says it's a good highway car. He is the local Mini expert, has a Japanese Mini with Mini trailer and is renoing a traveler which got interrupted by this project. When the ICBC Collector Car Plate people have questions about the Mini they go to him.

As for the park, click on the Fort Rodd Hill link in post for pics and history. It where the guns protected the Strait (Department of Defense Esquimalt and also Puget Sound and American Naval Installations) from enemy warships. It went from 1890's until 1956 when the advent of jet aircraft and missile technology made it obsolete.

Two lovely looking Sunbeam Rapier convertibles,i had one many,many years ago and would love to be able to afford another, especially if I could find one in as good condition as those two.
Thanks for sharing the photos, some brilliant shots there.
