Nice ones Ken. I used to lead a annual PTOA tour out to Maryhill to the museum and the Stonehenge replica. This was more than 20 years ago. I called it the "What in the Sam Hill Tour." He also was behind the building of the Columbia Gorge scenic highway and Vista house. The museum is in what used to be his mansion. He had it designed so that his guests could be driven into the house to be let out indoors when the weather was inclement.

Our roads don't even compare to the ones that Bean's is always posting. Perhaps you should go on a trip with him. [:)]

From what I've read, Sam Hill and Samuel Lancaster used Maryhill as a model when they later designed and built the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway. It would be a great tour from Portland, up the Washington side to Maryhill, and back on the Scenic Highway on the Oregon side.

Here's another picture I meant to include, looking up the Gorge to Beacon Rock from Cape Horn on the Washington side.

I've made several trips up the Gorge in recent years, including the Waterfalls Tour with the Columbia Gorge MGA Club last spring. I think there are also some Columbia Gorge photos in my album on this forum.

Nice shots Ken! Isn't that Stonehenge thing weird? We camped next to it one night years ago (or more like pulled over in the middle of the night and slept until dawn, then walked around it as the sun came up.) A great spot.

Glad your car is back up and running.

I've been to the Stonehenge rep a couple of times over the past 40 years. I think it looks better from a distance than up close, but I had to get some photos with my TR. What really surprised me this time was the number of huge wind turbines in the area now.

great pics , must have been a great drive!

After last years battles with the gauges , I also can attest to the fact that it's nice to have a little confidence in the car again eh [8]
