Postby paulheritage » 19 Aug 2013 17:48

Finally got the blue LED bulbs in the instrument pod, and the blue LED strip to cover the centre.

Nice, and looks well executed - but it's not period TR!

If you can see any dash lights, then you have to question if it is period TR

The centre may be a bit bright but will see when driving - I can always cover some of the LEDs in the strip.

Also need to add a strip behind the switches.

Have a few spare so may put some in the footwells to come on when the door opens, not sure yet.

Hi Paul - Are you sure that your TR isn't a closet-Clio?

Just remember the brighter the cock pit lights, the less you can see out on the road at night. Not a problem in brightly lit city but here out on the highway or rural roads with sparse street lights I find I have to to turn down the standard cockpit lights finding them too bright.

My brother-in-law put red leds in his Miata as red is the colour that least affects your night vision. Not my favourite colour but you can always pretend you're flying an airplane.[:p]

Hello Paul,

The lights look pretty good.

I noticed your gear lever is shorter than the usual TR7 item.

Did you shorten the existing lever or purchase a shorter one?

I'd be interested to know where you acquired it if so.

Regards

Mike.

I just cut it. You can re-thread what's left but it just roughed it up a bit and fixed an aftermarket gear knob with a grub screw.

Must admit I do like the lights on the dash, have seen led's used before and thing it looks really good. Not too sure if the strip would be the one for me, but great job.

Hi Paul
What type or led's did you use. I must admit I would like red and where did you get them from.
Regards
Gareth.

I do like that, and whats more you can read the instruments. When I eventually get back to Ruby she will be upgraded too.
Oh and chaps the word is 'upgraded' not 'not period'[^]
