Experimental Interior

Postby john 215 » 14 Jul 2013 13:39

Hi,

At Billing ( TRDC National Weekend ), on the Sunday was a very interesting Exp TR8. This featured not only colour coded bumpers but a future development interior, for those who couldnt be there took some pictues if you are interested -

Body colour bumpers -

Brown interior, not very clear in these shots, due to that rare thing called summer sun, but dash is also brown [:0]

Image

Note different door lights ( metro ect type ), door pockets and electric windows

Image

Talking of door lights, they have a seperate switch as does the fog lights front and rear

Image

Centre console now has a ash tray but the arm rest has gone, handbrake grip also looks like a Maestro unit

All in all if you a anorak like me [:I] a very interesting car.

Cheers John

Interesting, thanks for sharing!

Some of it seems like nice improvements, but I would sure miss the armrest/center console.

Good pics John, it was very interesting to have a close look at the car, I have not seen it for a few years until Billing.

It is one of those cars where every time you look you notice another little detail change. I noticed the door lights were different but I didn't see the switch on the dash!

The metal trims that run along the top of the sills are not black, but stainless, along with the A post trims down the windscreen pillars, matching the windscreen surround. The wheel nuts are different.

What might have been ....

Stevie the seat velour is from an SD1. This car was originally Carmine red before going into the Experimental department. When restored years ago there were still traces of this colour in places.
The current owner used to own X921 before I bought it.

very interesting car , I also notice the shifter boot is round at the bottom and theres carpet -vs- vinyl trim around it....

The p-brake handle is also a different design, and the gas pedal appears to be larger.

I kinda like the console less look,(you could easily fit an aftermarket cup holder or two there ([;)]) and I think the map pockets and central ashtray would both be much more practical.

On a side note , the painted bumpers really don't float my boat [xx(]

I seem to recall seeing markings in the plastic (knock outs)on the back side of the centre consul to take the window switches in my spider.... electric windows must have been on the cards for a bit!

Rather than deleting it I would rather they put a push button locking latch on the center consul. Body bumpers don't do it for me either (although black bumpers on a Spider is 7/8th there any ways). Ash tray is pretty useless these days as I read some where smokers are now down to 16% but back in the day......

Electric windows a bit extraneous, it's not a Jag.

I thought of that as well but rather not have coins in a convertible but in my pocket.

I actually thought about adding them to my car, only because it would be handy to lower the passenger side while driving.
