I've been to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire today to watch the the classics racing. I only saw one Triumph and it was a TR7V8 which had came second. I chatted to the driver who was incredibly personable and he told me that his TR ran a John Eales 4.2 with 330bhp and 300lbs. Although he could not keep a Lotus Esprit at bay, it was mighty fast, he did manage to beat the pants off a BMW M3 (E30). If you are aware of the history of who owns the Triumph name, it was a sweet outcome to the race.

He's also using Hi-spec brakes which he says are just about good enough for a 40 minute race. He wants to sort ventilation to the cabin, as he melted today in 25 degree heat.

It was a good race, only lost out on the last lap. It went up the mountain a lot better than some of them. Sounded really nice too!

So he's either using the wrong pads or the brakes are to small, thus unable to disperse enough heat ...

Can I ask what you mean by "Californian mirrors"?

Were these factory items specifically for Californian cars?

If so, are they available anywhere as they might solve a problem for me.

Beware that they have the same problem as the original (flat) door mirrors.
They are more or less useless on the car as there field of view is rather restricted.
This can be solved by placing them away a bit further,
but with standard doors the front window guide is in the way ...

Which makes the brakes to small [:p]

Friend of mine only needed one stage during the Deutschland Rally last year to boil his brake fluid.
He's also running the car on 13" wheels (sadly for him that's what the rules dictate for his car) ...

Reminds me of a set of Mintex M1144 pads I removed from my DHC (also with 13" wheels) after less then 5000 miles ...
