Battery cut-off switch added

Postby paulheritage » 15 Jun 2013 17:36

A job I've been meaning to do for a while & finally got around to it today. Adding a cut-off switch so I don't have to keep removing the cable when working on the car.

My battery is in the boot, and although the switch may protrude I don't use the boot very often so the easiest and quickest place to fit. Just thought I would share.:

Good idea, it's on my list also. Someone in the local club had one that operated remotely off a key fob, I need to find one of those.

Both dad and I have a remote circuit breaker switch tucked in behind the battery, operated via a small switch inside the cockpit.
In my '8 it's a small key operated switch (above the window winder switches on the below picture) and in dads '7V8 it's a turn
knob switch at the right end of the console:

Thought I'd take it a step further today, and use the space to install an extra power socket (with switch). More useful when we go camping with access for charging phones and air pumps.

The switch is there as I didn't want it to be active at all times and didn't feel the need to wire the green socket illumination to the lighting circuit, so when switched on the red light comes on the switch and the green light on the socket to show live.
