Back on the road after 6 year layoff

Postby rosey » 11 Jun 2013 19:26

Took my fixed head for its MOT today after 6 years off the road and 18 months of renovation, it passed first time with no advisories.
All of the hard work and many hours in a cold council garage seem worth it today.
I had forgot just how quick the 4 speed cars were, I have never been on the road in it until today and what a joy.

Oh happy day...[:D][:D][:D]

Well done, it is a great feeling isn't it.

I can't equal that, but when mine spent 10 months of a year getting painted, air conditioned & re-engined, I was surprised at how good it felt to be driving it down the road again.

Enjoy!

I was wondering the same thing about the Grinnal Chris, it seems such a long time ago since Wayne owned it....

Awww I still miss her, the legendary purple Grinnall!! My first car and packed with memories.

Would be lovely to see her out and about again!

The Grinnall will take a while longer as I have spent the winter on the fixed head to get it back on the road, the Grinnall is finshed on one side but I have taken off the windscreen surround to replace it before starting on the other side.
I estimate another 18 months to get it roadworthy due to the advanced corrosion in major structural sections, very time consuming but rewarding when it's finished.
I have lead loaded the joints around the sills to prevent the water getting behind the plastic filler (hopefully)
