Burt, this car gets better every time I look at it. you must have found the most painless way into TR7 ownership. An absolute cracker, I would keep the wheels too, I know they are probably not original, but they are of the time.

Looks real nice. Have to mention those white wheels, I think they set the car off better than factory wheels but then I'm biased.

That is a lovely looking car Burt. I hope you get along to the TR Drivers club national in July. Some very knowledgeable people will be able to tell you all you need to know about your lovely car(not me)[:p] I can tell you that the seats are correct for your model year and it should have the satin Black tail panel. I hope you lose the fake wood dash effect and find a decent centre armrest. The wheels unlike Steve (Croyde Bay)I'm not sure about,I would prefer the proper 77 trims, but that's just me. I great find all the same.

Roy

Burt will be looking for a good map-reading light soon: I understand his existing one has melted. Now there's a surprise!

Looks pretty good from here. I like the spokers but they do belong only on the Victory Edition. [8D]

Got to clean that black stuff off the turrets.[:p]

A bit more progress today and some more photos.

Image
Structurally the TR seems rock solid.
Image
There are some blisters on the passenger door.
Image
The bottom will need some attention too. The drivers door is ok.
Image
Front brakes being cleaned up.
Image
Front brakes seem fine, I'm expecting to find a problem with the rear brakes as the pedal goes to the floor. Probably a shot slave cylinder.

Pilgrim remoulds, my favourite tyre! New boots are required.

Next update probably Friday.

Pilgrim? Just grim really. Does anyone even sell remoulds these days?

Not to hi-jack the thread but VE wheels have 6 spokes. This side of the Atlantic white steel wheels are usually Weller which have 8 spokes. I think white steel spoker wheels are very 70's. just the thing a young Tr7 driver would have put on the car- bit like "go faster" stripes.

Great early car now gathered in and saved. Roll on tax free exemption!

That's all true but the visual effect is the same. After seeing the TR7 VE, I was going to get a set of spokers for my blue '71 Javelin but got talked out of it. I still think it would have looked cool.

Quick update on this TR7.

It has taken a bit longer than I hoped to get the car ready, mainly because of waiting for parts.

Parts replaced so far:

Fuel Pump
Master Cylinder
OSF Brake Caliper (was seized)
All 4 tyres

I'm waiting for:

Master cylinder pressure switch
Steering column bulkhead bush
Rear brake shoes
NSR Slave cylinder

I'm hoping to threaten the MOT tester with it by the end of the week.

Here are a few more photos

This is the leaking slave cylinder

Off side rear seems ok
