Nice find Burt !

Even if it's not original (could be though?), IMHO the green check interior suits the Java very well just the same!

I am going to sign up for the TRDC today and will put photos up when I collect it.

That's good to hear. My 1977\R-Reg had the green-plaid seats as well, I believe they changed from [black?] cord around that time, so both varieties are around.

Some cord-seat cars were held over as unsold when the new interior came out, so it's possible that a cord-finish car may be registered later than your green one...

Does the car still have map-pockets on the B-Post and a map-reading light on the bulkhead between the seats?

Ahh, maybe the seats are correct then. I'll investigate further when I collect it.

I'm not sure on the map pockets or bulkhead light. I think you'll have to wait for the photos!

Welcome to the forum!

Easy way to check the original trim - when you get the car, look at the chassis plate for the paint & trim codes. Trim code PAA will be black cord, RAB will be green check.

Paint code should be HAB for Java Green.

I'd have been surprised if the seats weren't green check. Very lucky to get one with that trim. Well done.

Hi Burt,

My first TR7 (back in 1984) was a 1977 R reg in white with red check interior and 5 speed, my college mate had an identical car at the same time, except his was a 4 speeder.

I noticed the Ebay auction ended suddenly, that must mean you made an offer the seller couldn't refuse, which means you must of really wanted the car, I can't blame you there it does look very desirable.

All signed up fot the TRDC now.

I had a chat with a friend of mine who is knows more than I do about TR7s (not hard at this point) and he thinks the seats and tail panel are correct. Anyway we'll see.

With regard to the purchase of the car; I went to see it because I couldn't make a decision on the car from the listing. I was the high bidder however.

I didn't expect to buy it there and then, nor did I ask the seller to end the auction. I did get on well with the old boy selling it though, and I think he was happy to sell it to me. I know he was also a bit fed up with the amount of questions he was getting on Ebay.

A slightly bizarre conversation ensued and we came to a deal. He has got more for the car than he expected, and I have paid less than I expected. A happy conclusion I would suggest.

I am going to give him a bottle of something when I collect the TR because I am pleased to have bought it!

Hi All,

I picked the TR7 up today and got a few photos. Unfortunately they are not the best quality, I'm going to take a lot more on my camera instead of the phone.

I didn't have time today to do more than just collect it so I will have a proper look at the car, hopefully, tomorrow. I might try to get it going tomorrow too, if not it will be Wednesday.

Hi again,

Got it running today, it just needed a battery and some fuel!

It ran well although once it goes on the road I am sure it will need a bit of tweaking. The fuel pump is leaking slightly and will need replacing and the heater matrix is bypassed so presumably leaking.

Here are a few more photos, tomorrow it will go on the ramp and we will investigate why it won't stop.

The chassis number of the car is ACG19927. Could anyone tell me what this means with regard to seats and tail panel?
