Rimmers did have the oddments box listed a few years back, but it wasn't the original one. Believe it was one from a later Rover that just happened to fit. Bit of a catch 22 situation though, I perceive the oddments tray as being a temporary fitment in its day until the new owner selected audio equipment from the options list. the fact that the car was fitted with pre equipment suggests that this was meant to be the case. Suspect that Radiomobile who supplied the speakers and aerial did so either free or at a knock down price on the basis of an informal undersatnding that dealers would guide their customers to the Unipart, Radiomobile or Motorola models which were basically the same, and in the period made on the same production range. A Radiomobile 6 pushbutton MW/LW radio would have been a typical choice and does fill the slot nicely. How times have changed! supercass

Radio in Vicki is a bit iffy and on the must do list. No radio in Carmel. To be fair I hate radio except I do like to listen to Judi Spiers on Radio Devon in the morning on my way to work. The rest of it (UK wise) you can keep.

Oh wow,

I've got one of those boxes on the shelf XKC981PA , came from Mick Dolphin years ago.
Just had a look and found a some bits of trim in it, I'd been looking for them for ages!

Cheers chaps!

Can't believe this bit of plastic trim is causing so much excitement. Definitely have to keep it now. Wonder if you can make a lid for it with a blanking plate?

Please pardon my intrusion on this excellent thread topic, but permit me this one small tangent. If one discounts the salted roads, body rot, the rainy cold climate, and other environmental factors, were British Leyland cars all that bad? <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Things weren't too bad considering! One problem was in-fighting, as summed up by Jaguar designers making sure the next Jag couldn't take a V-engine (they didn't want to have to use a Rover V8) - that turned out well for the now Indian company! Another 'problem' was that, for some weird reason, the UK market was dominated by company cars - this meant that to make money (company purchasers could get 50% off!) the cars were only designed to last 3 years - the point at which the company car would be replaced. IMO, this was the real problem for BL.

Regarding my 1980 TR7 which I bought in 1983; I was very annoyed when the rear wheel arch was perforated by rust at only 4 years old - outrageous!
