Sun visor covers

Has anyone tried these? Just wondering what quality and more importantly fit is like.

I'd be concerned with the velcro, I'd rather hand stitch them closed.

I'd be more concerned by the foam inside the visors being pulverised with age.

Powder in mine too. The plastic on the drivers side flaps on the frame unless I have it pointing down. Going to do Mildred's trick with sponge pads when I find a suitable sized mirror.

To fix mine, I cut the cover along the heat seam on the top edge, made new foams inserts, and stitched the cover back up. The stitching isn't that attractive, but the only time you can see it all all is when they visors are down.

I plan on rebuilding mine sometime soon with fibreboard , personally I like the velco idea and just might try it myself (sewing is just not my thing....)

If you saw my sewing, you would agree it's not mine, either!

I actually used a piece corrugated plastic to fill the area inside the wire frame, sandwiched foam over it. It gives the visors a more solid feel.

Yes, the problem with mine is that the inner foam has become malformed, the covers are in good condition, so fitting these would just make the situation worse. I have an idea that the sunvisors are still available in black / white, it's the all tan and all blue ones that are not available. supercass

My son used some stretchy material, with a pile like a short crushed velvet, or a long velour.

He sewed up a tube, inside out on the machine, & cut to length.

He hemmed one end to shape, turned it right side out.

Slid the tightish tube over the sun visor.

[}:)] A gave the thing to his girlfriend [:D], to hand stitch the other end. They look great.

when I redid the interior on my 8 there were no new tan visors to be had. My upholster used the same vinyl as the top of the windscreen & recovered mine even to installing a new mirror on the passenger side. He hand stitched them & they look fantastic.[:)]

Please, good people. Please don't go out and try to reinvent the wheel all over again.

Here is my article from 2008. Guess what? The visors are still as good as new after all these past 5 years.

Navy blue and tan still around but black and white n/a. FHC and DHC are different but its so long since I had a DHC I can't remember why.

The FHC has white on the top and the trim colour (tan , blue, black etc) on the bottom.(or perhaps the other way around) The DHC has the trim colour all round. All tan and all blue for the DHC are no longer available as far as I know. supercass
