When I contacted Newton last year they didn't do TR7 moulded carpets.

I wish we could find someone that did make the oem moulded type.

With reference to Coverdale, I sent for some samples and was most impressed with the way they presented them and the way they dealt with my subsequent enquiries with them. I would like to see a car with Coverdale carpets installed first before I buy though.

Mike.

Anyone from the UK side ever use Coverdale Carpet sets?

Don <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

I've never had a carpet set from them, but I've bought carpet off the role several times from them and made my own carpet sets.
It seems good quality and packaged and delivered quickly.

So personally I would recommend them.

Cheers, Dave

It states the carpet is cut and sewn, thus not moulded. supercass

Your right. If you watch the video they have 4 different products depending on vehicle. Cut and sewn not molded available for TR7. I ran across a light grey carpet that would work for Spider years ago that I think was molded. Still looking. But regardless the price is right if the samples prove it id quality.

A quick search came up with this. Not expensive said to be molded from floor pan. Whose going to be guinea pig. You can order samples to check quality/colour.

That sounds pretty good and the price is right. They say "Our replacement Triumph TR7 carpet kits are made from OEM Quality materials and are custom molded using a mold created from the original Triumph TR7 floor pan, providing the best quality and fit."

Thanks for posting that. I'm going to check them out.

Here's a molded carpet set, available in different colours but only up to front seats (doesn't go to back bulkhead and foot piece isn't black but colour coordinated. Can't have everything. [:(]

It seems some people go the local auto carpet people route. Not the cheapest method but they custom mold it with steam. You would want to check out estimate pricing, see if they use steam method or just fitting, see their sample material and see their workmanship on finished cars.

Probably do for me, but cynic that I am I'll believe it when I see it. I've researched this carefully more than once and always arrive at the same conclusion i.e. no one manufactures moulded carpets for the Triumph TR7. (I suppose these gents don't either at best just the easier half!) supercass

Yes the 'sewn in contours' and the 'bound edging' suggest that this is also cut and sewn. supercass

I don't see were it says that. It says exposed edging reinforced, doesn't say how that is acheived. It's the front part that wears, mine is a little thin at the left heal part. The problem for me is the Spiders shag is different from either loop or cut pile so would need the whole thing so it would match.

I went on the 'see all' option and looked under the black, however I've just seen that some of the other carpets / colours are listed as moulded. They all seem to reinforced with 'binding' which in my opinion destroys any chance of getting a factory fit look. I guess they won't do rh drive sets anyway! supercass

I've just contacted them and they assure me they are moulded. 'We can guarantee they are molded' i.e. in respect of the dark brown carpet. Even though this is the least complex part of the carpet it is a partial result. Now just need to get them to agree to locate the heel pad on the rh side and cut them oversize so the edges can be turned rather than bound! If anyone orders can they let us know the outcome etc. Regards

If you look at the detail on this carpet set they do not include the pieces that fit between the door and the floor pan. This set covers only the front floor pans, tunnel, front and rear, and rear floor pans. This is not a complete set by a long shot.

You missed the caption below "Image may vary from actual product" so you can't rely on that, it's just a stock image.

There's a bajillion Youtube video's where you can pick up a few tips from each to help the first timer. I've taken my Spider carpets out a few times for various reasons. Not done a regular installation yet. With out a molded carpet I suspect it's the old fit and glue method but reading that carpet installers use steam I wonder if something like the Shark steamer might work (if you have something comparable). Haven't watched enough videos yet as most are for applications of molded carpet.
