Heated rear window

Does the heated rear window have a relay? If so where is it. Victoria British shows it as a part without showing a location. Rimmer does not have it and I can't find it in the Leland manual.

This might help. I am not smart enough to understand, but I do not see a mention of a relay. Technically this is for TR8, but I am sure this is no difference for the rear window demister.

Thanks for that drawing. It does not appear that there is a relay there. It surprises me because I thought that system would have a fairly high current draw. Perhaps it doesn't. I don't have access to the car at the moment but it would be interesting to see what amperage fuse is in the box.

Look at "detail A" in the little box at the bottom. deffinately a relay in the system, and looks like a 15 amp fuse in location 3-4. [:)]

[Workshop Help]

Just a small hint; please check the wires on the inside of the glass have not been scratched in two. This happened to me in 1978 and was repaired using a continuity repair kit. It's worked fine ever since.

Thanks for that tip Mildred. Do you know where the relay is located? My relay panel has a total of 4 relays, 2 headlight, one starter, one air conditioner. I found another air conditioner and one horn relay in the engine bay.

[Workshop Help]

The 'kit' consisted of a small brush, a bottle of a gooey/liquidy copper solution, and a slotted piece of paper. The repair method involved cleaning off the glass area, placing the slotted paper over broken area, and daubing on the goo. Once it dried the electrical current was restored and the heating element worked.

As for the relay, I haven't looked for it.
