Del Lines 'experimental engine'

Just out of interest, does anyone know this car and the 'experimental engine'? 350HP from the Rover 3.5 litre V8 seems quite a lot. DVLA gives the Reg year as 7.9.79 and date of liability as 1.7.97. with year of manufacture as 1979.

At a guess, as Janspeed had something to do with the Le Mans car, I would imagine it has a turbo/tubos.

Really frustrated that there are not more photos of this car.

Bear in mind, Bob Tullius got 360 hp from naturally aspirated 4 liter with Lucas FI back in the day. I think the Lemans twin turbo had 600 hp. Lanocha Racing run a 1,000 hp from a 427 ci (not Rover).

I don't think it had 350 BHP either. In the old days that figure would be difficult to achieve.

Unless they used the same dyno that TVR used [:D] They always seam to manage to achieve unusal outputs, I agree with Chris unless full race a 3.5 will struggle to get to that figure.

Cheers John

Yep, over 300 BHP was pretty hard to get out of any Rover V8.

The 2.5L Brabham Repco engine in the F1 Brabham I drove was red lined at 9700 RPM, & Repco claimed 330 BHP at 9700. We never tested ours, our contract forbade it, but one bloke, upset that his top speed was less than a much older Brabham Climax 2.5 did. The independent dyno gave only 230 BHP. I have no idea of how worn that engine was.

These engines had immensely strong bottom ends, were fitted with an over head cam head, & won 3 F1 world championships in 3.0L form. No output figures were ever released, but Repco did claim 440BHP at 8900 RPM, from the 5 liter version, used in sports cars.
