How many TR7/8's do you have?

so im not the only one that uses the excuse that they will perform better than savings. my phrase is that they are my pension plan[:D]
at this moment i have tr6 tr7 tr8

another 8 have passed through my hands in the last 10 years

always looking for something else

I hope you are using your man math with that pension plan idea, with normal math it doesn't seem to work.

Including the PO spending, the 8 has a receipt file totaling well over $45,000 now. Worth perhaps $20,000 in Oz.

I have now spent over $16,000 in the last 12 months on the 7. Worth perhaps $7,000 in Oz, on a very good day.

Yep, works with my man math, but I doubt any woman could ever add it up to good value.

one tr7v8( garaged- needs MOT) and a scimitar SE6a - MOT'd, which i bought last Oct-because the TR was lonely- yep same pension plan and excuse to get mucky!!

Here is my list, it is kind of ironic it seems everyone now wants an early FHC. When I first got into TR7s, 25 years ago you could pick up for almost for nothing, non running 4 speed coupes very easily, as long you hauled them away. Today accept for Fastman on this forum I don't know of another coupe in my area.

1980 TR8 DHC (still have)
1976 TR7 FHC (needs to be finished)
1975 TR7 FHC (off road)
1977 TR7 FHC (parts car, bought for $25.00 gone)
1976 TR7 FHC (parts car, bought for $200.00 gone)
1979 TR7 FHC (parts car, bought for $500.00 gone)
1980 TR8 FHC (very rough sold now being restored)
1975 TR7 FHC (great shape, no drive train, very early car now being restored)
1976 TR7 FHC (parts car got for free, gone)

I'm not sure that <i></i>everyone<i></i> wants an early coupe, just a select few purists I suspect! Rarity lends some enhancement no doubt. It is a pleasing sight to see an unmolested early coupe badged, painted and wheeled just as it should be. You rarely see them for sale in the U.K., but then again the later coupe is quite rare here as the convertibles took most of the sales. I think that overall you see so few TR7's anyway, early , late, coupe, sunroof, no sunroof, convertible etc they are all special. supercass

I started with the '79 DHC as a lark not knowing one thing about the mark except that I remembered the TV spots with the Eskimo driving into the wedge shaped igloo.

After a partial restoration on that car I started to admire the FHC and acquired one last year for almost no money. It runs but is currently in the shop getting a dent removed from the headlight panel. It is a totally original unmolested car. Except for this panel damage I hope to keep it that way although I have made a few engine mods.

Just the three for me, the Grinnall must be the exact opposite of the early fixed head in most respects including the amount of plastic filler used on the former [:D]

Only one TR8, which I keep in Oregon. I would love to have another here in Alaska, but my wife says I would have to get rid of something else, like my TR6, my MGA, my Volvo 544, or one of my Jeeps.

My buddy Brian has something like 6 or 8 Jeeps and a very tolerant wife. I only have four cars at the house. My newest old Jeep is my daily driver, the older old one stays at our cabin across the bay that is only occasionally accessible by ferry. And of course my TR8 lives in Oregon. What I really need is the 4-wheel drive TR8 that is pictured in one of the Triumph books on my shelf.

Jeeps are like TR7's. You need a couple just to keep one usable one.

My "late model" Triumph is 33 years old and my "late model" Jeep is now 13. I guess I can't complain about an occasional repair.
