That would be my take on it as well. It could be numbed a bit if the amount of assist is turned up but having the ability to turn it down or even off would make it no different than stock at speed. I suppose if you wanted the one finger driving method at speed all you would have to do is turn up the assist which I assume would numb the feel a bit. If you wanted to go to a track day though and have full feel I think the answer would be, turn it off.

Yes that sounds good, but I'm not sure if it really is like that.

The S2k is totally dead, no feel at all, although the steering response is brilliant. From a discussion on an S2k web site I gather that the only way to change it, is to pull the fuse.

The general consensus was that it made the steering pretty heavy, but did very little to induce any feed back into it. Depends on the system I suppose.

One bloke reckoned he improved things by removing the power gear, & making some fairly large changes to the geometry. Too much mucking for me. I'll just drive it as it came out of the box.

The thing is pretty good really. I never try to get closer to the limit than about 7 tenths in it. I think it would bite real quick if pushed. It's 7 tenths is about 9 tenths in the 7, but where you can nudge up there with the 7, & retreat back to safety, without it getting nasty, I think you are going backwards into the scenery before you know it, at least on the public roads, in the S2k.

I guess that's why I love the 7 so much. All I need now, is to get the damn thing back on the road.

<font size="2"><font face="Comic Sans MS">The MGF system is meant to turn off completely at 50 kmh, with the system fitted to the TR I'd be inclined to try having it turn off completely at @ 20 kmh as a starting point and adjusting it from there.

Since having had some serious hand injuries over the last few years, I'm not sure that I'll ever have the full use of my left thumb again (the 5th and hopefully final reconstruction operation next month)
So having steering that wont tire or hurt my hand will be the difference between a car that I can enjoy using and a car that will have all the fun sucked outta it.
The only cars that I've been able to use over the last 2 1/2 years are the one's with power steering. </font id="Comic Sans MS"></font id="size2">

It has transformed the car, its fully adjustable, I have it set so it has just enough assistance to give it the easy of nipping into a parking space without having to do a muscle warm up first,
Yes you loose feedback if its turned full up, easy solution, don't turn it full up!

There is a pensioner in Aberdeen that recently fitted hydraulic power steering to his TR6, he hates it, it's too light and cannot be adjusted, at least with the electric system you can switch it off when out and about and back on in Town.

Personally, I have it on all the time as I have found the sweet spot in the setting for me.

I used a hydraulic system on mine. It's probably a little on the light side, but increasing the caster angle made it heavier at low speed, and helped it to track better at highway speed. Mounting the pump was the hardest bit. PAS and better brakes transformed the car.

I have been investigating an EPAS modification to my TR7V8 and collecting parts for a few years now. I have both a Corsa C and MGTF EPAS column and ECU and have sourced a speed signal cable to, theoretically, provide a signal to the ECU from an LT77.

I have as well a digital pulse adjuster + hand controller to modify the signal to boost very low speed assist and dial out all assist gradually at a speed I decide.

I also have many more photos and links to articles etc and would REALLY like to see a "sticky" topic started dedicated to EPAS and the TR7. There's lots of us going it alone at the moment and it would be great to have all the info and expertise in one place.

ref your Corsa column conversion, is it home brewed or is it available elsewhere?
I have seen a couple of adverts but you always wonder if theye are any good.

I removed a column from a Corsa and adapted it with home made brackets, I retained the Corsa switchgear too.
