Sledmere House Yorkshire - Flying the Flag

Postby Neil_W » 24 Jun 2012 17:52

It is still raining here 'Up North' with the final downpour having Halestones !
To show we are not bothered by a bit a of Rain - here are the photos of an event I took the TR7 today - as usual the 'Only TR7 in the Field' syndrome.
Quite a good turn out with over 250 cars plus but best result was for us - the lonely TR7 won best in Class for the Triumphs much to the disgust of the TR6 Boys I expect - the cream on the cake was also getting 'Best In Show' too.
Yet again lots of people came up saying how they use to have a TR7 etc with one guy who lives only a few miles from me is importing his ex-fathers TR7 DHC from South Africa so we will keep in touch & pointed him in the direction of this site.

All went well at 11.30am on arrival - dry

A good turnout

Then the prize giving & the rain / hailstones up to the tyres

Now have to buy some Metal Polish & get the Cups Engraved.
Best of show Cup has been given since 1972 with the only Triumph on it is a TR4A so the good old TR7 has come of age[:)]

Show was part of a Nostalga Weekend with some strange Invaders in Yorkshire

Good result Neil, nice to see your excellent TR being appreciated. Are you having to put up a bigger shelf at home for all the silverware? [:D]

So that is where Herr Himmler has been hiding since the end of WW2[:)]

Hi Tony,
No need for a bigger shelf as the Cup I got at Tatton Park was my first & these 2 yesterday will be returned in 12 month time.
Meantime they will be put away in some drawer, as in this house we do minimum polishing ( except in the garage ).

I was just pleased that the TR 7 won Best in Show as it gave it good publicity that our cars are good & can hold their own in the field of Jags, MG's, Astons, Fords etc.

I like championing the cause of the Undog hence why the TR7 goes out the all weather - I even routed for England last night as the under dog & that's from a Scotsman !

Have you still not got the hang of posting photos even after I mailed you the instructions - people are waiting to see your car so post them in the section with 'Expat' or ask Adam or Scott to help their old man - [:p]

For you all I have uploaded one in the General Wedgie Section

I hopefully will be at Sledmere next year but maybe on the high seas - anyway I won't be ticking the box to be judged next year as can't afford to get the 2 cups engraved again.
Might let you touch them when I see you next month [:D]

You got to love it, if the TR6 guys were upset think about the poor Jag guys....they must have been apoplectic.

As far as weather, it looks like just another sunny day in jolly ol' England.
