Hi Phil,

I hope you are on the mend and all is ok, sounds an intresting job at least out of the dealership rat race of efficeny's ect.

As far as inter club politics, I think a lot of people have long memories regarding the way 'our' cars were looked at by the Register years ago now. Thankfully IMHO this has largley changed, in my experience. Jioned the North London group at Knebworth this year by invitation and was made to feel very welcome even fed me, how much better does it get.Jioned the Register Stand up at Santa Pod and once agin nothing but good things to say. Wonderded over on the The Register stand several times this weekend and was always made to feel welcome i have to say. I am a member of both clubs, no reason I can see why you cant [?] Have to say TRDC is better for 'our' cars but The Register has improved by leaps and bounds over the last 10 years.

I think at this point I should look at what was said about my car at Goodwood.Look at "brilliant Goodwood revival" in the main index on the Register forum.http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/ See how other car club members feel about my 7500 mile TR8.

Chris,
My personal experience of some members of the Register not good - another case of opening of the mouth to impress before knowning the facts.
Sorry but they have many members like this even with the open policy of promoting the TR7 within the Register which is a shame as I know Alan Foster is trying to stamp this out attitude.

Then he finds out the reason why the TR8 was there from Chris:

Some people, like me, think that the works TR7V8 rally cars are the "Holly Grail" of TR7/8's. Some people don't appreciate a car that was prepared for competition 30 plus years ago. And does a concours car represent an average TR7? Anyway, well done on the restoration. I think these cars are a tribute to the men that drove them.
BTW I was a non-member of any club for 24 years of ownership.

There is nothing remotely anti- TR7/8 in that thread at all?? I'm puzzled as to how you read it as such? He clearly didn't understand the premise of the display.
I know Duncan Jolly and whilst he has contributed much to TR Register over the past 30 years he does not represent a club's opinion, there are over 7,000 members of the TR Register. He is but one man on a forum! Also as that one man isn't he entitled to his opinion on a particular car that was willingly given to public viewing? Personally I like the "used" look as anyone who knows my car will tell you! Others expect perfection for display cars...horses for courses.To my eyes Chris's cars are wonderful - but thats just my "opinion".
The car suggested instead was Howard Prior's multiple concours winning factory TR8 that is such a good example it was on the Meguiar's masterclass stand at the NEC this weekend. The suggestion that wedges should be showed off in their very best condition would aguably be a pro TR7/8 opinion?

Point is.... There are many hard working people involved in a car club. I would never appear on this forum bashing other clubs TRDC / TSSC / Club Triumph and de-crying the hard work of their volunteers as it's just insulting to all those who work hard to ensure the future and success of Triumph Car Clubs as a whole - no matter what their allegiance. We are all Triumph enthusiasts at the end of the day who should be pulling together to ensure the future of our cars regardless of irrelevant historical politics..

This forum is usually about TR7/8's!

Wayne, I only put the last post on because I personally believe the members of any car club should not think they are so important as to be able to decide which cars should appear at Goodwood. The arrogance is unbelievable. Can you imagine how upset I was to have my car described in such a fashion. I have not mentioned it for 2 months but believe that Duncan should have edited his comments if he was serious about his apology.
I cant understand why he mentioned Howards car, it is probably the best in the world, does this men then that he should be invited to every show, excluding all others because they arent good enough.

I wouldn't worry about it Chris. I don't think many people really look at the TR Register forum TR7 section anymore. The post about helping that old chap I posted had 43 views on here in 24 hours, the same post on the Register forum had 2.

Hi Chris,

Understand why you would feel hurt but Would'nt worry about the opnion of one person, treat it with the contempt it deserves. Personaly your TR8 is my favourite TR8 in the country and that include's Horward simply lovely car, something about your's that is right if you know what I mean, and if something looks that good it cant be wrong can it.

As for the Register forum, although like a lot of i have posted over there but tend to stick to 'TR7' part and pay much attention to the rest.

Must have a look at this gents car at Malvern next year, it must be the best TR in the world, and a true wonder to behold !!

Ok, that TR8 looks very nice aswell.

I spent 18 months re-shelling my car and have been on display at Stafford and Stoneleigh. Generally people look, or they look and say nice car. One bloke at Stafford didn't like the cold air scoop because it is modified to clear the air filter.
It's the old story - there is always one.
Trouble is, these comments, or opinions seem to appear on the internet now. Otherwise, you would never know.

had a great time saturday and welcomed warmly as ever on the tr drivers stand and most impressive it looked too, nice to see the tr register finally catching up with our love of the 7 too, still not had a good look at my picture, its been spirited off til christmas...........

pleasure as always to see everyone and am already looking forward to stoneleigh...[:D][:D][:D]
